iPoll

iPoll is simply a Bolean search engine that limits itself strictly to public surveys. It includes a wide variety of preselected search tools, from hot topics such as "economy" and "terrorism" to more specified target searches. A pretty useful little tool in determining public opinion (or at least as much that polling can represent).

John Hopkins University - Encyclopedia of American Studies

This database encyclopedia serves as a primer for American history and has a wide catalog of historical documents, summaries, and accounts pertaining to the history of the United States. This can be useful especially for its detailed history on the American political spectrum dating back to Federalism of the late 18th century. Good for laying groundwork on a political movement.

CQ Press Political Reference Suite

This is an online database that provides access to a wide range of CQ Press's political content, focusing primarily on government. This contains a variety of government documents including a bill/law database, elections walkthroughs, a Middle East relations suite, and a summarized history of politics in America. There is also coverage on Supreme Court cases, US military histories, Congress, and a political statistic database. Very good.

American Fact Finder

Created by the Census Bureau, American Fact Finder is just that - a fact checker. IN dealing with political news coverage, I would find it pretty important to have correct information regarding geographic, economic, and housing information, especially when covering election news. American Fact Finder has a plethora of U.S. statistics readily available for searching. It has my approval.

Access World News

Access World News is an aggregator of news sources across the entire world. One can filter searches based on world location, publication type (newspaper, Internet, journal, etc.), This is a useful way to filter specified news searches based on geography. I like it.

Policy Map

From Temple's Library website's database list, i found a pretty interesting tool called PolicyMap. This website features a map of the United States and a search function to view very specific criteria for policies, studies, and research based on geographical location. This is quite user friendly with its map orientation set up, and can be quite helpful for finding data on voting trends and policy trends based on locations in the country.
